In Love at Bangkok!

I had the opportunity to travel to Bangkok, Thailand in December 2011, I visited only a few places in the city, one of my favorite places was this beautiful restaurant called In Love located on the banks of Chaophraya River near Rama 4 Bridge. Its absolutely splendid :) Perfect spot if you are like moi.  I had no idea such a place existed, but my friend L took me there, we were further joined by her family and friends who were so warm and kind. The only regret i have is that i did not have my digital camera with me :( however I 'have uploaded this video from Youtube  :) also i have clicked some really-blurry cell phone pictures with no flash! <closes her eyes with her palms>

I dint have my digital camera with me through the trip, all i have to share are these dinky, blurry, blackberry camera pictures :( I am absolutely certain it won't do justice to the food or the place, but here goes ..

Magnificent view of the Rama 4 Bridge - it was spectacular!
It was a perfect spot to spend an evening with friends and family.
Thai -style veggie soup , it was served in a vessel which was placed over flame to keep the soup warm through the meal- the soup was YUM!

Thai green curry with fish balls, egg plant and fresh salad
Deep fried fresh water fish with egg plant salad, fresh peanut sauce and fresh cut vegetables.
Delicious deep fried fresh water fish served with spicy chilli and garlic sauce and fresh vegetables - SUPER YUM!
We devoured everything :)

A super yummy dinner, fantastic location and great company :) on the whole fantastic evening.

Fish Fry at Mahabalipuram

I am a true blue Chennaite, I look at interruptions as a welcome break, I look forward to the northwest monsoons which turn my hot and torrid city into a water theme park and I love the muggy weather caused due to the salty seas which surrounds my beautiful city.

However my parents and I moved to the suburbs of Chennai about 3 years back after spending a little over two decades in the city. Its not that we don’t love the city but its just that we need to miss something for a bit to love it even more:P so yes moving on ..Since all three of us go to work if you step into our tiny suburban home in the morning hours you will see  - Alien Vs Predator Vs Godzilla kinda action :P i.e. our mad rush to work so when 2 weeks back Wednesday was declared a holiday for all 3 of us by our respective organizations,  we got up late had a leisure brunch and hopped on to our car and drove far away and spent the noon at Mahabalipuram.

An ancient town built during the Pallavas circa 7th century A.D. I remember reading so much about the Pallavas Dynasty while preparing for a popular competitive exam I’d rather not talk about here :D  because I do not want to be digressing again. The history buff I am, I am REALLY tempted to write down about the Pallava kings who consolidated power at in the south and established good governance with their seat of power at Mamallapuram.. I am also tempted to write about My mum who loves the historic epic ‘Sivakamiyin Sapatham’ which centers around the power struggle between the Pallava Kings and Pulikesin but I wont bore you with those details :)

Somewhere around late noon I got hungry & I needed a quick snack and I was overcome by the smell of fried fish which was way too tempting to resist. So I gave in.. My mom is a doctor so she generally does  NOT approve eating anything other than home made food (impossible probability in my case).. But I managed to convince her I would be just fine... And now the highlight of the afternoon..
Crisp Fried Red Snapper
I chose one of those tiny shacks along the way to the beach which give you a choice of different fish to pick from - My choice ~ a nice red snapper marinated with Madras Masala powder and shallow fried till crisp. It was so delicious YOU WILL WANT MORE! I was full with just one slice :)

What a perfect way to cool off a long day than a slice of water melon :)

Over all it was a perfect day and I am thankful for life's little blessing..

All New Amethyst

Amethyst

Ahh i know its been a good 10days since i posted something on my food blog, I have loads of snaps but i haven't been able to sit down and write :) so let us begin where we left ~ AMETHYST! So i finally went to the all new Amethyst last Sunday. Needless to say with a dear girl friend who made my afternoon absolutely delightful!

All new Amethyst @Whites road

Greek Salad
I ordered a Greek salad made out of fresh olives, crisp lettuce leaves, fresh chopped cucumber, tomatoes and cheese. It was light, nutritious and refreshing.

And for starters we ordered crisp fired chicken lolly pop with a side dipping of mayo - YUM!

And yes a cool glass of fresh lemon flavored iced tea to sip :)

Thin crust chicken pizza

We were about to explode with just this and yet we ordered dessert :) a friend of mine once said
"Life is short so remember to start with dessert"

Dessert~ Carmel, baked pineapple with roasted almonds- *SIGH* Gimme more  :P

The picture below is not Pandora from AVATAR ~ Its the all new AMETHYST

My friend was soo inspired by the gardens at Amethyst she wanted to make a parody "Pandora Thandi Varuvya" loosely based on AVATAR & VTV :P
